The Great Pyramid of Cholula with the Nuestra Sen`ora de los Remedios sanctuary on top /photo/ is the most important tourist attraction of the city of Cholula in central Mexico. Pyramid, mostly hidden into the “hill” actually is the biggest pyramid in the world. It is almost two times bigger in volume, than Great Pyramid of Giza. Built in Toltec period, by the time the Spanish arrived, the Pyramid was overgrown, and by the 19th century it was still undisturbed, with only the church built in the 16th century visible. In 1910 the site was “discovered” at last and exploration of the pyramid began.
